Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon in the American Southwest, carved by nature the interior is a marvel of beauty. Having wanted to visit this place for many years I finally achieved my goal in early 2019. The abstract nature of the canyon interior inspired Arabesque Duality One and Two, individually displayed or as a diptych the harmonious flow of the canyon is without a doubt natures art.

Discovery Bay Coastal Park Sand Dunes
Located 50km west of Portland Discovery Bay Sand Dunes are a hidden gem. There are 1800 hectares of dunes stretching along the Victorian coast all the way to the South Australian border. Here I found myself totally amazed to be able to walk across these dunes, often at times feeling as if I were in the Sahara Desert. Is is strongly advised that you keep sight of the Southern Ocean on your left as you begin your trek, the signed posts are not always guaranteed to guide you safely without getting lost. I know from experience that you can easily become disoriented as you search for the perfect shot.

The Beauty of the American Southwest - Antelope Canyon
Titled “Antelope” this image was captured inside Lower Antelope Canyon during a bright and sunny yet cloudy day. I couldn't have asked for a better day but with the ever changing light you just don’t know where you will be during the next cloud break as the guide quickly moves you along inside. Passing through chamber after chamber the canyons interior is beautifully sculptured by natures elements and a marvel to experience first hand. Being inside a slot canyon the light is crucial to taking a good photograph and being in the right place at the right time requires a little luck. You can plan the visit and the tour but you just cannot plan the light and when the light does enter the canyon you hope to be in the right place and ready to take the shot. Well that’s exactly what had occurred here when the light did break through the clouds and filled the chamber, it was just beautiful to behold as I looked up and got the shot.
Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon in the American Southwest, on Navajo land east of Page, Arizona. It includes two separate, scenic slot canyon sections, referred to as Upper Antelope Canyon, and Lower Antelope Canyon.
“Antelope” is a limited edition print of 200 and is also available on canvas as large as 144cm x 192cm or 56” inch x 75” inch.
Williamstown Beach Haze Series Limited Edition Prints
As the bushfires raged in Australia during the summer of 2019-2020 the skies over Melbourne were filled with smoke haze that blocked out the sun and lingered for days. In one particular morning I decided to head out and use this diffused light to photograph Williamstown Beach. When I had arrived on location I was pleasantly surprised at how the light was evenly spread out across the landscape, with the sun already above the horizon I was able to point into the sun without over exposing the photo. This was a rare opportunity and I was instantly rewarded with even light across the scene. I photographed throughout the day and into the evening and approached each scene with a square format in mind. I had prepared myself to capture as many images as I could during these conditions and returned the following day to continue before the haze cleared away.
Below is a triptych series created with 3 images of Williamstown Beach processed in black and white, these are offered as a set of 3 (triptych), a set of 2 (pair) or as individually.

EPSON UltraChrome K3 ink can produce archival prints with amazing colour fidelity.
The prints offered through my gallery are printed on Epson large format printers using UltraChrome K3 ink with vivid magenta, Epson has engineered the UltraChrome HDR (High Dynamic Range) pigment ink technology. While still retaining its key features, such as three-level black ink for superb grey balance, and smooth tonal gradations from shadow to highlight, UltraChrome HDR comprises several new important innovations that contribute to dramatically enhanced print and colour quality.
Abstract Fine Art Photography
When choosing a print consideration needs to be given to the size, format, colour and texture. All these factors will play a key roll in selecting the right print for your wall. In the image sample below a square format print was selected based on the dimensions of the wall it was going to be hung on, however this was not the only choice available but a good place to start. The size of the print was the next choice and that was based on the existing furniture in place, here the print becomes the hero without overpowering the luxurious 3 seater black sofa which is also dominant in this space. The table, lamps and vase are all complimenting without competing for dominance. You’ve heard of the saying ‘less is more’ and the same was applied here when selecting the print. With only 3 colours being present in this print the client now has the option of adding some additional colour to their space, this colour should be drawn from the print itself.

The last art show participation in 2018 at the Mt Eliza Art Show with a successful auction sale going under the hammer. A big thank you to all who have supported Nick Psomiadis since 2012 through invitation, it has been an honour.
"PHANTASM" a new print release captured inside Antelope Canyon.
The ethereal ghost light that beams down inside the slot canyon occurs at certain times throughout the day during the summer months. Having planned this trip ahead was crucial as an Australian photographer, its a long long way away to get to when you live down under. I had planned to enter the canyon multiple times back to back to increase my chances of getting the shot. I wasn’t going to leave without my reward.
